Plötzlich fliegt ein männliches Kaukasusbirkhuhn (Tetrao mlokosiewiczi) vor unseren Füßen auf. Mit kraftvollen Flügelschlägen aber ohne vernehmbares Geräusch hebt sich der Hahn aus dem Rhododendron heraus, gewinnt nur leicht an Höhe und gleitet dann mit waagrecht gehaltenen Flügeln und hängenden Flügelspitzen den spärlich bewachsenen Hang hinunter.
